In a blend of history and fiction, this half play/half concert follows the life of instinctively creative troubadour Countess, Beatriz de Dia (1140-1212), the Amy Winehouse of 12th Century Provence.

The Bloomsbury Quartet
Quartets by Maconchy, her teacher Vaughan Williams and daughter Nicola LeFanu will be performed as photographs and Maconchy’s writings are read and projected. A pre-concert installation will introduce Maconchy through film and photography as the audience is free to interact with musicians.

Clare Norburn’s new concert/play explores Prosper Mérimée's myriad of love affairs that underpinned Carmen’s creation (the basis for Bizet’s opera), intertwined with music from Carmen and Spanish or Spanish-inspired music.
